By the end of this topic, you will be able to:

• Identify instances of expressive reading from a print or digital text
• Read a text at the right speed, accurately and with expression
• Appreciate the importance of reading fluency in communication

Summary

This topic builds on the fluency skills introduced at primary level, with a specific new tool: analysing presenters and readers you already watch, such as news presenters, to notice exactly what makes their reading effective. Fluency is still built from the same three parts -- accuracy, speed and expression -- but this topic adds real models to study and several structured practice formats.
