Summary
Kenya's national philosophies are the guiding ideas of its governments. African Socialism (1965) sought a Kenyan path between capitalism and communism; Harambee — "pulling together" — mobilised communities for self-help; and Nyayoism — "footsteps" — of peace, love and unity followed from 1978. The 2010 Constitution replaced them with written national values.
