Summary
Kenya moved from a regional constitution in 1963 to a de facto and then de jure one-party state, returning to multi-party politics in 1991 and adopting a new constitution in 2010. Economically it grew strongly, then declined under oil shocks, debt and structural adjustment, recovering later. The DRC and Tanzania illustrate two contrasting post-colonial paths.
