Syllabus tag: KCSE | Geography | Form 4 | Topic 34 Energy
Lesson objectives
By the end of this topic, you should be able to:
- Classify sources of energy as renewable and non-renewable.
- Describe the sources of energy used in Kenya and their advantages.
- Explain the factors influencing the development of hydro-electric power.
- Explain the energy crisis and the measures for energy conservation.
Summary
Energy sources are renewable — hydro, geothermal, solar, wind, biomass — or non-renewable — coal, petroleum, natural gas, uranium. Kenya relies chiefly on wood fuel domestically and on hydro-electric, geothermal and wind for electricity. HEP requires a permanent river, steep gradient, hard rock and a market.
