Adaptations and Human Influence on the Environment
Ecology · Adaptations and Human Influence
Syllabus tag: KCSE | Biology | Form 3 | Topic 2 Ecology
Lesson objectives
By the end of this topic, you should be able to:
- Describe adaptations of plants and animals to their habitats.
- Explain how human activities affect the environment.
- Describe the causes and effects of pollution.
- Explain the need for conservation and methods used.
Summary
Adaptations are features fitting an organism to its habitat, and they may be structural, physiological or behavioural. Human activity alters habitats faster than organisms can adapt, through deforestation, overgrazing, pollution and overexploitation. Conservation seeks to use resources without destroying the capacity to renew them.
