• Divide a photograph into parts and describe features by position.
• Estimate the time, season and compass direction from a photograph.
• Interpret relief, drainage, vegetation, soils and human activities shown.

Summary

Photographs are ground or aerial; aerial photographs are vertical or oblique. A photograph is described by dividing it into foreground, middle ground and background, and into left, centre and right. Time is estimated from shadow direction and length, and season from vegetation and stream conditions.
