Summary

Transport is the movement of people and goods from one place to another, and it creates place utility by bridging the gap between producer and consumer. Its three essential elements are the unit of carriage, the way and the terminal. Its modes are land, water, air and pipeline, and the choice among them depends on the nature of the goods, distance, cost, urgency and destination.
