Summary

Physics is the study of matter and energy and the relationship between them. It is divided into branches including mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, electricity and magnetism, waves and atomic physics. Physics underlies engineering, medicine and technology, and its laboratory work demands strict safety rules, since the hazards are real.
