  • Describe methods of resolving conflict peacefully.

Summary

Conflict is disagreement between people or groups with opposing needs, interests or values, and it is normal rather than abnormal. What matters is how it is handled. Peace is more than the absence of fighting: it includes personal peace within an individual, social peace between people and groups, and cultural peace where differences are respected. Resolution methods run from negotiation between the parties themselves through mediation and arbitration to formal courts, and the appropriate method depends on the conflict.
