Summary
A healthy relationship is one in which both people are respected, can speak honestly, and are better off for it. This applies to friendships, family, classmates, neighbours and working relationships alike. Two skills sustain them, and the syllabus names both: effective communication, meaning speaking clearly and listening properly, and negotiation, meaning reaching agreements both sides can accept. Recognising an unhealthy relationship matters equally, and knowing that leaving one is permitted rather than a failure is part of what this sub-strand teaches.
