Summary

David and Solomon are the two most important kings in Israel's story, and the Bible presents both honestly, including their failures. David is remembered as a man after God's own heart, not because he never sinned but because he repented genuinely when confronted. Solomon began with a request for wisdom and became famous for it, yet ended his reign having drifted from the faith that produced it. Read together, the two reigns say something uncomfortable and useful: a good beginning does not guarantee a good end.
