Summary

The Gospels give a large share of their space to the last week of the life of Jesus in Jerusalem. It opens with the entry into the city on a donkey, greeted by crowds waving palm branches, an event Christians mark as Palm Sunday. It continues with the cleansing of the temple, days of public teaching and confrontation with the religious authorities, and the Last Supper. Read together these events show deliberate purpose rather than a ministry overtaken by circumstances.
