Transformation of Energy

3.0 Force and Energy · 3.1 Transformation of Energy

Syllabus tag: Kenya CBC | Grade 8 Integrated Science | Strand 3.0 Force and Energy | Sub-Strand 3.1 Transformation of Energy (20 lessons)

Lesson objectives

By the end of this sub-strand, you should be able to:

  • Identify forms of energy in nature
  • Classify energy sources into renewable or non-renewable
  • Demonstrate simple energy transformations in nature
  • Describe safety measures associated with energy transformation

Summary

Energy exists in many forms — light, heat, potential, kinetic, gravitational, electrical, sound, chemical, and nuclear. Energy does not disappear; it transforms from one form into another, as seen in devices from electric bulbs to hydroelectric dams. Energy sources are also classified as renewable (naturally replenished) or non-renewable (limited, taking a very long time to form).
