  • Identify causes of fire in nature
  • Explain the role of the components of the fire triangle in the spread of fire
  • Describe ways of controlling different classes of fire
  • Acknowledge the dangers of fires in nature

Summary

Fire needs three things to burn: fuel, heat, and oxygen — together called the fire triangle. Fires are grouped into classes based on what is burning, and each class needs a matched control method. Understanding the fire triangle is the key to both preventing fires and putting them out safely.
