A cause and effect text explains why something happens and what results from it — and unlike reading, listening gives you only one pass to catch that structure unless the recording is replayed. This topic covers picking out the main idea while listening, catching specific details, and working out unfamiliar words without being able to pause and check a dictionary mid-sentence.
