The Bible traces sin back to the very first humans, Adam and Eve, disobeying God's instruction in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-13). This single act of disobedience -- the fall of man -- brought consequences that the Bible describes as affecting not just Adam and Eve, but the whole of humanity going forward.
