Abrahamic Covenant

2.0 The Bible · 2.2 Abrahamic Covenant

Syllabus tag: Kenya CBC | Grade 8 Christian Religious Education | Strand 2.0 The Bible | Sub-Strand 2.2 Abrahamic Covenant (6 lessons)

Lesson objectives

By the end of this sub-strand, you should be able to:

  • Identify covenants in modern life and their importance
  • Elaborate the covenant made by God to Abraham
  • Explain the importance of circumcision to Abraham and his descendants
  • Evaluate characteristics of ungodly covenants today

Summary

A covenant is a solemn, binding agreement between two parties. God's covenant with Abraham, described in Genesis 15 and 17, formalised the promises already made -- and included circumcision as a physical sign of that covenant. The chapter also equips learners to distinguish godly commitments from ungodly ones.
