Summary

Every sentence ends with one of three marks, and each tells the reader something different about how the sentence should be understood: a full stop closes a plain statement, a question mark signals something is being asked, and an exclamation mark signals strong feeling. Choosing the wrong one changes how a sentence is read even when every word stays the same.
