Summary

A friendly letter is a personal letter written to someone you know -- a relative, a friend -- rather than a formal or business correspondence. It has a fixed set of parts in a fixed order, and getting that format right is what makes it recognisable and easy for the recipient to navigate, even though its tone is relaxed and personal.
