Oral Communication

1. Meaning and importance of oral communication

Spoken communication - face-to-face, by phone, or otherwise voice-based. Advantages over written communication: immediate feedback, tone and emphasis carry extra meaning, and misunderstandings can be clarified on the spot.

2. Types of oral communication

Face-to-face - richest form, includes non-verbal cues alongside words. Telephone - immediate, but loses visual cues; tone of voice carries more weight to compensate.
