Summary
Pan-Africanism is the movement for the unity and liberation of African peoples worldwide. Begun in the diaspora, it moved to Africa with the Manchester Congress of 1945, produced the OAU in 1963 as a compromise between the Casablanca and Monrovia groups, and the African Union in 2002, which abandoned strict non-interference in favour of a right to intervene in grave circumstances.
