Summary
Livestock farming is traditional or commercial. Nomadic pastoralism moves herds in search of pasture and water in the ASALs. Commercial dairy farming concentrates in the Kenya Highlands, where cool climate and reliable rainfall suit exotic breeds. Beef ranching occupies the drier margins. Mixed farming combines crops and livestock on one holding.
