Summary

Forestry is the science and practice of managing forests. Forests are natural or planted, and hardwood or softwood. Kenya's forests are its water towers and a source of timber, fuel and foreign exchange, but face clearing, charcoal burning and encroachment. Softwood forestry in Canada operates on a far larger and more mechanised scale than in Kenya.
