Summary
Mining is the extraction of minerals from the earth's crust. Minerals occur in veins and lodes, reefs, seams, alluvial deposits, weathering products and oil pools. The method used depends chiefly on how deep the mineral lies: open cast for shallow deposits, underground for deep ones, alluvial for river deposits.
