Summary

Biology is the study of living things. Its two main branches are Botany, the study of plants, and Zoology, the study of animals. Living organisms are recognised by seven characteristics they all share — nutrition, respiration, excretion, growth, movement, reproduction and irritability. A thing is living only if it shows all seven, not merely some.
