Summary
Environmental degradation is the decline in quality of the natural environment through human activity or natural processes. Its main forms in Kenya are deforestation, soil erosion, water and air pollution, loss of biodiversity, land degradation and waste accumulation. Conservation means using resources in a way that meets present needs without destroying the capacity to meet future ones. The distinction that matters most is between causes and symptoms: planting trees without addressing why they were cut produces a cycle of replanting.
