Summary
The Bill of Rights is Chapter Four of the Constitution of Kenya. It states that rights belong to each person by virtue of being human and are not granted by the State, which means the State recognises rather than confers them. It covers civil and political rights, economic and social rights, and specific protections for groups that have historically been disadvantaged: children, persons with disabilities, youth, minorities and marginalised groups, and older members of society. Rights may be limited only by law and only where the limitation is reasonable and justifiable.
